Rasid —
a phone as a certified terminal.
A SoftPOS platform that turns any NFC-enabled smartphone into a certified payment terminal — approved by Visa and Mastercard, and regulated by the Saudi Central Bank.
//01The challenge
Traditional point-of-sale hardware has long been a barrier for small and medium businesses in Saudi Arabia. The cost of purchasing, maintaining and managing dedicated terminals — combined with lengthy onboarding — left thousands of merchants unable to accept modern contactless payments.
Rasid Payments envisioned a world where any Android smartphone could become a fully certified payment terminal. Turning that into reality meant meeting the strictest standards in fintech at once: certification by Visa and Mastercard, full regulatory approval from SAMA, and compliance with ZATCA e-invoicing requirements — while still delivering a seamless merchant experience.
The technical demands were considerable: a secure NFC payment stack on consumer devices, end-to-end encryption meeting PCI standards, real-time settlement across multiple payment networks, and reliable behaviour across hundreds of Android device models and OS versions.
//02What we built
The solution
NFC contactless payment engine
A high-performance NFC stack reading contactless cards and mobile wallets with sub-second tap-to-pay response, optimised across 200+ Android device models.
PCI-certified security architecture
End-to-end encryption, tokenisation and secure element isolation on consumer hardware, with tamper detection, secure key injection and real-time fraud monitoring.
Multi-network payment processing
Integration with eight payment networks under unified settlement and real-time transaction routing.
ZATCA e-invoicing compliance
Native e-invoicing aligned to ZATCA requirements — compliant digital invoices, QR-code receipts and tax-ready transaction records generated automatically.
Real-time cloud settlement
A settlement engine depositing funds directly to merchant bank accounts, with a dashboard for transaction analytics, daily reconciliation and monthly KYC-verified account review.
Instant merchant onboarding
A four-step flow — download, register the business, activate a virtual terminal, accept payments — taking merchants live in minutes rather than weeks.
